Second-Chance Victorian
Project partner: ElementWorx Construction
After living with an addition for 20 years that didn’t fit the style of their Victorian-era home, these homeowners were excited to design something that better suited the style.
We reconfigured the kitchen space, added a built-in bar out of a wasted wall nook, redesigned the powder room with new wainscoting and wallpaper, had a custom-built quarter-sawn white oak peninsula made, and reworked the pantry area.
We love these detailed drawer pulls that replicate other Victorian hardware details in the home, and the cabinet door/drawer moulding profile. Small details like these matter.
Same goes for the open glass shelving and brass bracket supports. They add to the character of the kitchen.
The kitchen’s central feature is a heavy-duty Blue Star range in bright red. Juxtaposed next to the delicate glass shelves, together, they bring Victorian style back into the space.
We utilized a previously wasted space for the microwave, with a dry bar underneath.
You can see why the Blue Star oven really is the star.
We carried the Victorian vibes into the powder room as well—a colorfully bold wallpaper, oval mirror with a perpendicular oval pedestal sink, and beadboard wainscoating are perfect complements to each other.
