Kenilworth Midcentury Modern
-
As one of our first full home designs and the first working in Midcentury style, this south Oak Park project was such a treat to design.
-
The homeowners, with three school-age kids, downsized from a large Victorian home to a Midcentury ranch, all in the name of simple living and embracing a life with less “stuff.”
-
They hired us to guide them through the process of completely remodeling every space from top to bottom.
-
We carefully planned the cabinetry to maximize storage and durability.
-
We selected finishes in a neutral, natural color palette.
-
And added pops of brighter accents fit seamlessly with an upscale Midcentury Modern style.
-
Island seating is central to the kitchen, as are the six-burner range, the pendant lighting, and the geometric backsplash.
-
There’s thoughtful storage everywhere—including in the breakfast nook under the bench seat.
-
The primary bath features dual sinks and a walk-in shower.
-
Brass fittings are all keyed to Midcentury styling.
-
Elongated subway tile in the shower also echoes Midcentury.
-
The kids’ bath also features a double-vanity—and darker tones.
-
The guest bath continues the Midcentury feel with uniquely glazed subway tile and fittings that feel part of the space race.
-
In redesigning the home, we found space for a three-season room that feels like it had always been there. Pine walls and ceiling, wicker furniture, and drapes complete the look.
