This family put all of their faith in us and our project partners after purchasing a beautiful Victorian in central Oak Park. Our challenge was to create a true cook’s kitchen, a spacious mudroom addition with an outdoor space that seamlessly blends indoors with outdoors. The use of rift-sawn white oak cabinetry with inset doors complemented with a neutral white, cream, and charcoal color palette creates a timeless earthy space. The large island fits five stools–perfect for larger gatherings. The mudroom is contrasted from the kitchen with deep tavern-green cabinetry, easy to clean porcelain tile and custom-designed stairwell details. The entrance to the mudroom is at grade level, which makes for easy in and out with kids, dogs and groceries.
