Historic Oak Park Gunderson meets refined French Bistro was the guiding theme for this remodel. Working in tandem with Chris Wollmuth Architecture, we redesigned the entire floor plan on the first floor, moving the kitchen, powder room and dining room to a different location, and adding a second story to create a primary bedroom and bathroom suite. Preserving the original Gunderson details was very important, so many original features remained, including the original pocket doors and original built-ins. Features on the first floor include a coffee and drinks bar built into the family room, a tiled hood, induction cooktop and speedcook oven in the kitchen. We chose a warm base color palette of deep greens, ivory, and charcoal to accentuate the original stained wood trim throughout the first floor.
